Kristin Davis-Ouwejan

Founder & Certified Equine Remedial Therapist

Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.  Any chance I had to ride, groom or smell a horse, I took it!  My first job was pen checking on horseback for a local cattle feedlot and it was honestly one of the best first jobs I could have had, next to working with animals big and small at the veterinary clinic. It has always been a dream of mine to one day unite my passion with an immensely rewarding career.

I am a Certified Equine Remedial Therapist, graduated with honors, from the Canadian Equine Therapy Institute (CETI) in 2022. I am certified in a variety of different therapeutic modalities including advanced massage, stretching, myofascial release, osteopathy, acupressure, cranial sacral, diet & nutrition, biomechanics, saddle fit, barefoot trimming and balance consulation, etc.

My journey started after my horse, 2Bar, sustained a severe laceration to his front pastern from a barbed-wire fence.  The next couple of weeks would be life-altering as his condition deteriorated and I was given a 0% chance for recovery.  Every cell in my body refused to believe that there was nothing more that could be done for him.  I searched tirelessly for an answer, read countless articles and case studies on tendon injuries and rehabilitation techniques and I cried...a lot. Finally, when it seemed as though I was faced with that devastating moment that so many owners find themselves in at some point, I fell to my knees and prayed for a miracle to save us both. With every ounce of determination and the help of family, friends and an amazing Veterinary team, 2Bar and I are riding together again.

It was through his trauma that I found my passion for healing and my calling to rebuild myself and my career. Rewind Equine was formed in 2018 as I was gaining clients to build on my practical hours and experience. Certified in Equine Massage after my first year, my little business was growing as were my skills to help support horses and riders.

Alternative therapies have conjured mixed reviews in the public domain as this un-regulated industry can leave owners feeling unsure about the choices they are making for their horses and leave Veterinarians out of the loop when dealing with their clients. I am determined to bridge the confidence gap by working closely with the entire horse heatlhcare team to bring awareness about the many benefits that these alternative therapies can bring as complimentary add-ons to exisiting Veterinarian care. It takes a village and the learning never stops! We are committed to providing the very best services to our clients.
